This is a picture of a R-40M (the M stands for modified). These cars run on the BMT and the IND. You will see them in service on the B, the N and the W, and very rarely on other lines that use them in mix service with R-42’s. The rolling stock numbers for the R-40M’s are from 4450 to 4549.
